Officials Announce 2015 Scholarship Recipients

Friday, June 19, 2015

Golden Meadow-Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo officials today announced the winners of the 2015 High School Scholarships. As part of the mission of the Golden-Meadow Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo, proceeds from the rodeo assist local high school students to attend college. Winners of this year’s awards are Katie Duet ($4,000 award) and Cassie Verdin ($2,000 award), both of South Lafourche High School.

“Lots of time goes into the planning and preparation for our annual rodeo,” said 2015 Rodeo Admiral Eddie Callais. “It is nice to see the fruits of our labor as we present scholarships each year.”

Earlier this year, rodeo officials announced a new partnership with the Lafourche Chamber Foundation, the non-profit wing of the Lafourche Chamber of Commerce. This partnership allows for continued support of higher education for the youth of our community.

“The driving mission of both the Golden Meadow-Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo and the Lafourche Chamber Foundation is to assist area high school students in furthering their education,” said Callais. “I encourage everyone to come out and support us during the weekend of July 4th. Come pass a good time enjoying music, food, and drinks in our all-new air conditioned tent.”

The 67th Annual Golden Meadow-Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo will be open Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4. Live Music, food and drinks will be available under an air-conditioned tent, and the annual King of the Catch Cook-Off will take place on Friday, July 3.
